What is the asking price for Niklas Hjalmarsson?
Mtl could use a top four defenseman, but not sure what they should send back for him. Maybe Eller or Leblanc... |

Gillis has got to be under the gun more than anyone. He is up the creek big time trying to move luongo, and it most likely should or has to happen today

I've heard they want a center and cap relief.

Please let him be wrong, I have the day off and nothing to do:
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Hoping this isn't the case, but could be quiet day on trade front. Not many top end guys avail and too many teams involved. #TSN |

I'd imagine there are not too many teams looking to acquire Luongo and his contract. Toronto seems to be the only team that makes sense to me.
I'm betting that Gillis trades Schneider, or ends up holding onto both of his goalies.

Will be just like the trade deadline all this hype leading up to it and very little happening with exception of draft picks being moved around. Most teams will wait until free agency starts to address their needs and make trades as the dominos start to fall. Bowman doesn't have the STONES to make a major deal...... NO way Hawks move Kane for Nash and take on another HOSSA like contract. |

If that is the asking price, I have no idea what Buffalo could offer as all they have in that regard are Roy (no cap help unless you count his pending UFA status after this season) and Kevin Sundher.
I cannot imagine Buffalo is going to trade someone like Sundher, who has been really coming on, in a deal for a guy like Hjalmarsson.
He would only be part of a bigger deal for a top notch center. |

I know they are professionals and all, but that would be an awfully uncomfortable locker room and relationship between luongo and the organization and luongo and schneider now. Especially since Vancouver has all but said that Scheider is their present and future

The trade market goes to sh-- after 7/1 because of the glut of free agents. Trades will get done more so before 7/1.
Also, how do you know, aside from any desire the Hawks might have to remove the Kane distraction, that they don't just really like Nash as a player? (they do)

Nash is the exact type of player they need. He would be a monster with Toews.

I think if Gillis is that desperate to trade him, he's going to end up taking back a bad contract. |

Agree.
I hate his salary, that's my only complaint. |

I will give you the trade front as i didn't not make my point correctly but my point was you will not see a ton of deals tonight at draft or tomorrow involving big time names as has been speculated.
They can like Nash all they want but Kane's contract is much more friendlier than Nash's and Kane on open market will get a much better return than NASH and one of the NHL's worst contracts. if trading Kane is what the Hawks have finally come too which I don't believe is the case at all, would rather take 2-3 players in a deal one involving a young goalie and a center over NASH |

thats the whole problem they are having, that contract and cap hit was DESIGNED to keep him from moving.
thats what you do when you plan to make someone your franchise player forever, they pretty much shot themselves in the foot here
same thing with ovechkins, lecavliers, and eric staal
those contracts were supposed to lock them down in that sweater forever |

If he scoring 40 and playing nasty like he used to, the salary is not going to bother me.

I would not discount the excitement that Kane can bring to a smaller market. And many teams I think would strongly consider bringing along the baggage to fill some seats. Obviously, CBJ want to bring in as many assets as possible, however, they can offset some of the talent by putting people in the seats.
If there is one thing I learned from JJ and marketing over the past few years it is this.
Kane would also be a good fit in Anaheim. Perry and Getz big guys.
Panthers, Coyotes other teams that can use his talent and cache'

Pretty sure Luongo and Nash will be moved at some point, but otherwise most of the big names will stay put. Then again, we did see Carter and Richards being traded last year.
Will be interesting to see what will happen with Suter and Parise. |

Coyotes are not an option, at all.
